Vacation

Tomorrow morning at 5am I head off to the airport for my cruise to the Bahamas! Have a wonderful week and I'll post photos when I get back, but I'll spare you the ones of me in my string bikini!!! just kidding

5k Run/Walk

Ok, so on Saturday morning, Beth and I walked a 5k run/walk race for charity. Although we did not quite win, we weren't last! It was snowing and a cold 40 degrees outside, but we pushed through. I finished in 51 minutes, and Beth finished in 56 minutes, but we won't comment on her skipping over part of the course after being peer pressured by the "old ladies" as she says! My time could have probably been a bit better, had my darn toe nail not cut into the side of my other toe. I knew it hurt alot, but didn't want to stop to try and fix it, as I didn't have my nail clippers on me.... When I got home and took off my shoes, there was blood everywhere, so I guess you can say it took blood, sweat, and maybe a few tears to finish my first race. Here are a few photos for your enjoyment!

Beth's big finish, there's no one behind her, but that's because we re-created the finish later.

I did it!

Uh, this is us at the finish line. Shortly after we took this the last place people came through. Guess we weren't all going to be on the medal stand today! :)

My Zoo...

Yesterday I took the boys to McDonald's to eat lunch (mostly french fries) and play at the play place here in Troy. Which by the way is the best play place around. If you have little ones you should come check it out. Anyways, so after about 30 minutes of playing, Evan winded his way to the top and decided he had no idea how to get back down, although he'd just done it about 10 times before that. As he stood at the top hanging onto the netting like a caged chimpanzee and screaming, I decided it was inevitable....I was going to have to force my big butt up there and drag him down. As I headed over to the entrance (which mind you is a very small round opening, smaller than a hool a hoop), I told Ethan to stay there at the table and I'd be back. Not but 1 second later, Ethan ran up to me with his entire meal in his hands. For some reason, he felt the need to show me he was out of barbeque sauce (he's just like his daddy). I told him to go sit down right away and be careful as he was going to drop all of his food. As he headed back to the table.....you guessed it, he dropped his entire bag of french fries on the ground. Meanwhile, Evan was still swinging from the nets at the top of playland screaming for dear life, so I told Ethan he was done playing as he didn't listen and needed to sit down at the table and wait for me. Well then, I had two screaming monkeys and plenty of gawking onlookers to make it my own personal zoo. I then forced myself up to my 1st screaming monkey and dragged him down by his legs as he refused to come down on his own. As we got to the bottom and I carefully maneuvered both of us out, Ethan was still screaming in the background. I set Evan down on the ground and told him to go back to the table so we could get our stuff together and go...yes I had this conversation with a 1 yr old, you do these things when you're a stay at home mom and you don't get much adult interaction! :) As I got back to the table I sat down, told Ethan to zip up the tears and I turned around to find an elderly man bringing a large box of french fries to Ethan. The old man looked at me and said, sorry I have soft spot for kids and he was upset. I wasn't sure how to respond. Somehow this man assumed that Ethan was in trouble becuase he dropped his fries, which in fact it was becuase he did not listen to me when I told him to sit down until I came back. It was very nice of the man to tend to Ethan's needs, although I think it showed Ethan that you get rewarded if you disobey and then scream like a caged monkey. Oh well.....thank God for nice old men.....but for the record....mommy ate the fries!

Great Quote

PASSION.....Until you find something your willing to die for you never truly live. After Pastor Bob spoke on passion yesterday, I thought on it for the afternoon. I realized...as crazy as my kids make me sometimes...THEY ARE MY PASSION. Is your family your passion? I pray so.

Some Fun

The day started off at 5am with Evan awake and covered in poo, later the fun continuted, which involved Ethan, some pee pee, and a pacifier. I'll let you put the details together, but let's just say that pacifier is now in the trash.

We had a nice dinner tonight catching up with friends and then came over to my mom's to pull up her carpet in her dining/living room as Steve is going to install new wood floors for her tomorrow. It will be so nice when it's all done as she's waited patiently for the boys to grow up a bit and get most of thier "baby stains" out onto the old carpet before she got nice new floors. Let's just pray that Evan's enjoyment of throwing everything across the room does not result in chipped floors! I'll post some photos of the new floor later.

Ethan also told his daddy, "no thank you". He's coming along great with his speech. Great job Ethan!

Eye Exam

So today's adventure was taking Ethan for his first eye exam. I know what you're thinking, what in the heck does a 3 yr old need an eye exam for....I have the same thoughts, but apparenty the Troy Schools don't care about my thoughts and want one anyway.
So off the the Walmart Vision center we went. As I approached the desk with one child diving out of the stroller and the other screaming "juke" (which means juice in 3 yr old language) over and over again and then laying on the floor screaming, all three ladies working began to give each other eye contact saying "please, please, let my phone ring so I don't have to take her". As I gave the woman my appointment information, she asked me four times how old he was as if it had changed since we'd been standing there. She reluctantly took us towards the back rooms and explained that Ethan would have to look into a small hole in a dark room and hold his head and eyes still for several minutes until some laser caught his retna......WHAT! Anyone who knows Ethan, knows this is like asking Oprah to support John McCain!
So after 4 bribes for french fries, 2 balloons, 2 bathroom breaks, 3 pieces of candy and some coaxing from mom (ie. holding him down), we got a passing grade.
Apparently I now get to enjoy this fun again at the dentist....at least they have laughing gas on hand, momma's going to need it! :)

Another Day....

So I decided to join the world of blogging today. Hopefully you all will find our life as enjoyable as we do....did you note my sarcasm there! Life with two boys under 3 isn't always glamorous, but we know we're blessed and take it one day at a time.
